For many years, going back to the early 1900's, Arsenal has used blue on its away kit. Blue with gold or blue with blue became the most popular pairings.

The two shades of blue used for the 2017-18 shirt have been used most recently in 2014-15. The light and dark blue combination is displayed on a gradient design that runs from top to bottom. From the shoulders, Blue Danube (light blue) turns to Limoges (dark blue). Stripes on the sleeves use the same pattern.
